Why Use Thrixel
Without Thrixel
- Prototype levels often start with cubes, capsules, and placeholder props.
- Writing geometry by hand spends tokens that would otherwise go to gameplay.
- Finding matching assets and adapting them to the level becomes a separate task.
With Thrixel
- Models are generated from text or reference images to fit the game's art direction.
- Assets generate in parallel while the agent builds the level.
- Individual parts can be edited, grouped, and prepared for use in Unreal.
Unreal Engine Support
-
FBX import
Generated assets are downloaded as FBX and imported into organized folders in the Unreal project.
-
Moving parts
Doors, wheels, and lids can stay separate meshes, with pivots and movement configured in Unreal.
-
Materials and textures
Material slots survive grouping. The agent checks texture assignments and surface appearance after import.
-
Blueprint gameplay
Unreal MCP lets the agent build Blueprint logic and connect gameplay to actors in the level.
-
Scene inspection
The agent checks each asset's scale, facing, and placement against the surrounding level.
-
Playtesting
Play-In-Editor checks and screenshots help identify camera, collision, and rendering issues.
How It Works
You
- Add the skill and set up Unreal
- Describe the game
Coding agent
- Plans the game
- Builds the level
- Creates Blueprint gameplay
- Playtests and fixes issues
Thrixel
- Generates the models
- Adds detail and textures
- Prepares assets for import
- Saves them to the Thrixel workspace
The result is an Unreal project with levels, gameplay, and generated assets.
Reuse and Refine the Assets
A shared Thrixel workspace
Models generated by the agent remain available in the Thrixel workspace. Edits made in the browser can be pulled back into the Unreal project. The same models can also be reused when rebuilding a Unity or Roblox game in Unreal.
Get Started
1 Add the Build World skill to a coding agent.
Install the build-world skill from https://github.com/thrixel/build-world and follow the setup instructions in that repo.
2 Describe the game and name Unreal as the engine.
/thrixel:build-world build an exploration game in Unreal Engine set in an overgrown observatory, with ancient telescopes, collectible star charts, and doors that open when puzzles are solved
Build World's Unreal workflow requires Unreal Engine 5.8 or later, a project, and the editor's MCP connection. The Unreal setup guide covers the required plugins and connection checks.
Claude Code and other coding agent setup instructions are in the Build World setup guide.
